Many of the people living at Expanding Horizons have a range of complex needs that require a specialist service with staff who provide resources, skills and experience and work in a fully integrated manner but also provide a nurturing environment with the added advantages of stability, structure, safety & unconditional positive regard.

Service Users who use our services enjoy high levels of personal safety and value the many opportunities to develop and maintain confidence, self-esteem and appropriate relationships. They thrive in an environment where staff use their skills to promote positive affirmation, celebrate achievements and provide the therapeutic expertise & support to effect positive change. We believe that every person has the right to be treated as an individual and as a result will benefit from a personal programme of support and progression designed to meet their own needs and aspirations through active and consistent support. These objectives are accomplished within a stable and friendly environment

At Expanding Horizons we believe that each person has the right to expect that we will help them in adopting new and more positive ways to cope with their problems and so improve their self-esteem and expectations.  We work in close partnership with primary care teams and external professionals to provide an holistic support service.

Our primary aim is to keep young people safe by confronting anti-social or self-destructive behaviours thereby enabling the development of alternative ways of self-expression whilst creating opportunities for young people to establish and maintain trust, raise self-esteem and develop respect for themselves and others.

Expanding Horizons’ care packages are tailored to meet your specific requests, including:

  • Getting ready for school or college in the mornings
  • One to one support at school
  • Shopping trips, social or cultural events, leisure and sport
  • Help with personal care, meals and assistance with eating
  • Attending medical appointments
  • Doing activities and daily living skills at home
  • Getting ready for bed and perhaps a bedtime story
  • Supporting the family to establish daily routines

We see every child as unique so before our service begins, we will spend time getting to know everything about them:

  • How they communicate
  • Their individual needs and how they prefer those to be met
  • Their likes and dislikes
  • The things that are important to them

You can rest assured that all of our staff are rigorously vetted; your child’s safety and well-being is our number one priority. We carefully select the right team to provide your child with the continuity of care they need.
