New self-contained flat opens at our Clerk Green service
A new self-contained flat has been developed at our Clerk Green service in Maesycwmmer, Caerphilly. Over the last 7 weeks, we have been working on converting a garage at the back of the property, into a modern living space with a bedroom/living area, kitchen, and bathroom.
This transformation includes insulating and damp proofing the building, laying new flooring, fitting new double-glazing windows along with all new plumbing and electrics.
Jane Allan, Property Manager at Expanding Horizons said “We are so pleased with how this project has gone, the vision has been achieved and we are very grateful to John Evans for his expert craftmanship and impeccable organisational skills along the way.”
This development takes the capacity of our Clerk Green service up to 4 service users. However, the development of the new space is the most recent success story of a long-term strategy to provide opportunities for independent living in an assisted environment.
Jane commented “We know there is demand for these types of spaces, where the service users are in an assisted environment but are still living independently. We have created a modern space where a new service user can feel at home, whilst utilising the wonderful support network of Expanding Horizons right on their doorstop.”
“This is the first garage to self-contained flat conversion, that I have been involved in since joining this wonderful organisation. We now have a template for creating similar spaces for those in the community that need it most.”
Managing Director of Expanding Horizons, Tim Jenkins commented: “I am thrilled with this development. This high spec renovation is a testament to the skill and knowledge of the team. A huge thank you to Jane, and John for your work on this. On to the next...”
