We are renovating our Eva House service
A significant renovation is underway at our Eva House service in Bargoed, Caerphilly. Eva house has been a service at Expanding Horizons in previous years, but after a few years of the house not being used for supported living, we have decided to bring this property back into our service line up, with a modern and improved design to better serve the needs of the community.
We are at the early stages of the renovation, where we are removing almost all of the original interior (even the ceilings) and starting with a blank canvas, this way we can better utilise the space to provide exceptionally high-quality accommodation for our service users.
Once completed, Eva house will become a supported living service with accommodation for three services users, with a room for a sleep-in staff member. One of the major developments in this new design is breaking down the large lounge to create a bedroom on the ground floor, and developing a wet room, also on the ground floor at the back of the house. Additionally, upstairs will have 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The house will also feature a huge kitchen and a huge garden. The whole house will be insulated, making it more energy-efficient.
Property Manager, Jane Allan said “The renovation project is expected to be completed by the end of May, and once it is finished it will allow us to help more people with mental health problems and learning disabilities to enjoy the benefits of a modern and accessible home, in a supported living environment.”
People, Culture and Wellbeing Manager, Ellis Jenkins said “The renovation of Eva House is a significant project that will greatly benefit the service users and the community, whilst also providing jobs to form a new team to run the service. We are really looking forward to the completion of this project and it will be exciting to see the positive impact it will have on the lives of the new service users.”
