Glastonbury Comes to Ridgeway House

Glastonbury at home
Glastonbury at home

We had a weekend to remember at our Ridgeway House service, in Bristol. It has become a tradition to host the ‘Glastonbury at home’ festival, and we were thrilled to be able to have brought it back for another year, for our third year in a row!

This event is so much more than the festival on the weekend, all are involved in the  preparations which are in full swing from the week before, and continue right up to the first festival day. We began with arts and crafts sessions to create the decorations that transform our already wonderful garden into ‘Glastonbury’. This is a great way to get the creative juices flowing and build the excitement for the weekend.

Next, it was time for the team to prepare the garden with the festival tents and decorate the stage ready to welcome our wonderful artists. It was a wonderful team effort on a very hot day! However, their hard work was soon rewarded with the arrival of our first act, George who kicked off our 4 day weekend in style, with a country and western extravaganza!

The following days saw Emily, Nick, and finally Megan as the headliner for Sunday! We would like to thank these wonderfully talented artists for providing such a memorable and enjoyable experience for all who attended the festival.  Similarly we would like to thank Mini Concerts, who provided the artists. They were outstanding!

Service Manager at Ridgeway House, Jenny Buckley said “Across the 4 day festival, we had so much fun enjoying so many activities, and doing what festivals do best… bring people together and make people smile! People of all ages, including service users from other services in the Expanding Horizons network, families, friends and staff came together in the summer sun to enjoy a wonderful variety of music. It was a great success, and we are over the moon with how happy it made our service users.”

We also had so many activities including an aromatherapy tent for relaxation, water fights, a few thousands specks of glitter, tasty buffets, paddling pools, a great deal of barefoot dancing and so much flower power!

Managing Director of Expanding Horizons, Tim Jenkins said “We would like to thank the incredible team at Ridgeway House for doing what they do best, you have once again created an amazing event for our service users, and seeing the smiles on the faces of the attendees proves what a great job you did. Thank you for always looking for ways to make our service users' lives as fulfilled and enjoyable as you can.”
